Penguin Class - Winter Learning Walk

On Monday 19th January 2024, Penguin class took advantage of the frosty conditions to go on a winter learning walk. The children enjoyed noticing the changes we could see and discussed what is different in winter. Magnifying glasses were used to examine the frost on different surfaces. It was lovely to see the children chatting to each other about their observations.
Below is a list of different things that we observed:
-some trees had no leaves while others did.
- the sun is lower in the sky.
-our shadows are very long
-the grass is crunchy when you walk on it
-some plants have frost on their leaves
-frost looks like salt
-frost/ice sparkles in the sunlight
-the air is cold
-we can see our breath, it looks like smoke
-when the sun reaches the frost it starts to melt.
-it looks very pretty

EYFS Superhero Day 2024

It was lovely having everyone in costume for our EYFS superhero dress up day. We had a great day being Superheros. Our phonics lesson saw us become superheroes in training. We had to sound out the words that appeared on the screen whilst carrying out the action for each task. This was quite challenging to begin with but we soon got into the swing of it. Later on we did a Cosmic Kids Superhero in Space Yoga session. The children really enjoy copying the different yoga poses as they follow the instructions. Other activities included 'Race to reach the Superhero', 'Build a City', 'Keepy Uppy', 'Decorate a mask', 'Write the room', and 'Search and Rescue' in the tough spot. All in all, a busy day for our superheroes.

Burgess Hill Community Parade 2023

On Sunday 25th June 2023, around twenty of our key stage 2 children took part in the Burgess Hill Community Parade. Before the parade, the children were working extremely hard after school to put together some incredible lanterns. Both the children and staff loved showcasing their hard work and thoroughly enjoyed the parade.

We would also like to take the time to thank the members of staff involved, Mr Moulden, Ms Smith, Mrs Kirwan and Ms Stoner.

Coronation Celebration Event 2023:

The children really enjoyed coronation day. They were taken outside and the staff band played between each year group showing off their skills. From singing to maypole dancing. They then enjoyed the crown parade, where all children were encouraged to make their own crown and then the judging panel choose the best ones. The day was finished with a cupcake which was funded by the school PTA.

International Performance 2023:

At the end of the Spring term, Manor Field celebrated its first International Performance. We were entertained by songs, dances, poetry, instrumental pieces and martial arts from across the world, including Japan, Zimbabwe, India, Scotland, Peru, Germany and the United States. Some of the children performed acts from their home country, some children shared skills they practise regularly outside of school, and some children learnt something completely new especially for the performance. The children were absolutely amazing and lots are already planning their performances for next year!
